Delhi Police had, on June 27, arrested Mohammad Zubair of AltNews for charges of hurting religious sentiments and promoting enmity among people. He was arrested by police under sections 153/295 of the IPC.
New Delhi: Patiala House court on Saturday rejected the bail plea of AltNews co—founder Mohammad Zubair. The court granted 14-day judicial custody for carrying out further investigation.
Delhi Police had, on June 27, arrested Mohammad Zubair of AltNews for charges of hurting religious sentiments and promoting enmity among people. He was arrested by police under sections 153/295 of the IPC.
The law enforcement agency had asked to join investigation against him under sections 153/295. Police said that it had sufficient evidence against him hence arrest was made during the course of investigation.

Delhi Police had said that the case was filed on basis of a post on Twitter by handle Hanuman Bhakt @ balajikijaiin where he showed his anger against another Twitter handle in name of Mohammed Zubair regarding the post “BEFORE 2014: Honeymoon Hotel. After 2014: Hanuman Hotel.
According to the police, a picture (in tweet) shown where signboard of hotel ‘Honeymoon Hotel (in Hindi)’ changed to ‘Hanuman Hotel (in Hind)’. Hanuman Bhakt @ balajikijaiin tweeted, “Linking our God Haunman ji with honeymoon is a direct insult of Hindus because he is brahmchari. Kindly take action against this guy.
It was further stated that Zubair containing picture & words against a particular religious community are highly provocative and done deliberately which are more than sufficient to incite hatred among people which can be detrimental for maintenance of public tranquility. According to the reports, the accused will be produced soon before the duty magistrate for seeking further PC remand.

A day after the arrest, AltNews co-founder Mohammad Zubair on Tuesday sent to four-day police custody. Hours after his arrest on Monday, he was presented before a Delhi court which rejected his bail application. The court sent also granted one day custody to Delhi Police.
The law enforcement agency had again approached court for his further custody to carry out investigation following which a custody of four day was granted.
