New Delhi: A day after swearing in as Maharashtra Chief Minister, Eknath Shinde reached Goa hotel on Friday night. The Chief Minister joined the rebel MLAs may return to Mumbai to take part in floor test for the newly elected government.
The Maharashtra CM, after reaching Goa, met with the Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant who welcomed him for elevation. Shinde also received warm welcome by MLAs at the hotel where they have been camping after coming from Assam’s Guwahati.
Pramod Swanat, in a tweet, said, “Congratulated Shri @mieknathshinde ji on taking oath as Chief Minister of Maharashtra. I Wish him all the success in the service of the people.”
On Friday, Eknath Shinde and Devendra Fadnavis were sworn-in as the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra on Thursday at the Raj Bhawan, days after he left the state along with a few MLAs and rebelled against Uddhav Thackeray.

Meanwhile, claiming to be involved in anti-party activities, Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray had on Friday sacked newly elected Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde from all positions of the party. Shinde’s removal from party posts came a day after his swearing in a s state chief minister as the Shiv Sena alleged his involvement in anti-party activities.

The party, in a statement, had said that the action was initiated as the rebel MLA has given up his membership from the party. “He was been sacked for involving in activities against the party,” the statement said.
After heightened political drama in Maharashtra for over a week, Wednesday things were settled after the Supreme Court turned down a Shiv Sena plea to stop a floor test ordered by the Governor and subsequently, Uddhav Thackeray quit as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra. Thackeray announced his decision through Facebook live and in some time, reached the Governor’s house and submitted his resignation.
