New Delhi: Moments after a blast rocked Pakistan’s Karachi and killed four persons, including three Chinese nationals, on Tuesday afternoon, a tweet, reportedly put out by the woman suicide bomber, went viral. While the Baluchistan Liberation Army claimed responsibility for the attack, the woman suicide bomber was identified as Shari Baluch or Bramsh.
The tweet in Urdu loosely translates to “Farewell and companionship” and was made exactly at 2.40 pm. Watch the tweet here:
In some time after the blast, a CCTV footage released by the security officials showed the moment the woman blew herself off. In no time, the video started getting circulated all over social media and while most people condemned the attack, some, mainly those who are in favour of the Baluchistan movement, praised the woman who gave up her life and retweeted her farewell tweet.
Shari Baluch’s Twitter handle, which otherwise looks normal and showed tweets in favour of the uprising in Baluchistan, claims she was a Master of Science in zoology, Master of Education and Master of Philosophy in education.
Her tweet soon went viral on social media platforms alongside her photographs, some of which showed her with two of her children.
Confirming that the blast was carried out by a woman, the Counter Terrorism Department said there were ball bearings found strewn in the area of the blast.
A spokesperson of the university identified the deceased as Confucius Institute Director Huang Guiping, Ding Mupeng, Chen Sai and Khalid, a driver. Two of the four injured were identified as Wang Yuqing and Hamid.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Shariff took to Twitter and wrote, “I am deeply grieved on the loss of precious lives including of our Chinese friends in the heinous attack in Karachi today. My heartfelt condolences go to the bereaved families. I strongly condemn this cowardly act of terrorism. The perpetrators will surely be brought to justice.”
