Kolkata: Days after she walked out of the Opposition INDIA alliance, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Sunday announced the names of Trinamool Congress (TMC) candidates for all the 42 Lok Sabha seats in the state.
The announcement happened during the mega Janagarjan rally organised by the TMC at the Brigade Ground in Kolkata.
Among the notable names in the list include actor Shatrughan Sinha for Asansol, Mahua Moitra for Krishnanagar, Saayoni Ghosh for Jadavpur, Gopal Lama for Darjeeling, Abhishek Banerjee for Diamond Harbour and former Indian cricketer Yusuf Pathan for Berhampore.
In the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, the TMC had secured 22 of the 42 seats in West Bengal, BJP had bagged 18 and Congress got two. The TMC score was a climb down from their 34 seats in the 2014 Lok Sabha polls.
While Mamata Banerjee had long exited the INDIA alliance citing that the TMC will not be able to enter a seat sharing agreement with Congress, on Sunday, she reiterated that her party will not hold any talks on the topic with the Congress.
