Datsishin was a principal dancer with the National Opera of Ukraine. He had performed the main roles in Swan Lake, The Nutcracker, Sleeping Beauty, Giselle, and Romeo and Juliet. He enjoyed a stellar career, performing in Europe and the United States.
New Delhi: Three weeks after getting injured in Russian shelling, Ukrainain ballet danker Artyom Datsishin has reportedly succumbed in a hospital. He was a principal dancer with the National Opera of Ukraine. Datsishin had performed the main roles in Swan Lake, The Nutcracker, Sleeping Beauty, Giselle, and Romeo and Juliet. He enjoyed a stellar career, performing in Europe and the United States. He would be cremated in Kyiv.
‘On February 26, Datsishin (43) was fired upon by the Russian forces. He was seriously wounded and died in the hospital,’ revealed the late dancer’s friend Tatyana Borovik.
His friends, family, and well-wishers were devastated by his death, and they have expressed their grief on their social media handles.
Recently, the war-hit country bid farewell to actress Oksana Shvets who was killed in a Russian rocket attack on a residential building in the capital city.
According to the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, nearly 600 civilians have been killed and more than 1,000 injured in Ukraine since the start of the conflict. Over 6.5 million people have been displaced inside Ukraine, on top of the 3.2 million who have already fled the country, since Russian invasion.
