Noida: Since Noida is all set to witness demolition of Supertech twin towers on Sunday, concerned authorities are busy in making all arrangements to execute the work in a smooth manner. The agencies, in order to avert any untoward incident, have been taking all required measures like evacuation of residents on Emerald Court society and nearby ATS Village society, closing of roads leading to the main site, evacuation of security guards, disconnection of water and electricity supply, installation of machine to check pollution and dust after razing the giant structures besides other measures. Meanwhile, the authorities have also decided to halt traffic on Noida-Greater Noida Expressway for 30 minutes.
As per the traffic officials, the 26-kilometre long carriageway connecting Noida to Greater Noida will be closed between 2: 15 pm and 2:45 pm on Sunday. The demolition is scheduled at sharp 2:30 pm hence vehicular movement will be stopped 15 minutes before and after the implosion. The traffic officials make last minute changes in their schedule depending on the situation or any need, if it arises.
“We have fixed the schedule as per the demolition time. If any change takes place, we will adjust the time accordingly. The corridor will be opened for traffic once dust will be settled. Things will depend on the situation on the ground,” said an official.
The traffic department has also made arrangements at nearby hospitals while a green corridor has been made to take people to hospitals in emergency situations. Dry runs have also been conducted to make sure no lapse could take place if any such situation arises.
Here it would be important to mention that to raze the towers, over 3700 kilograms of explosive have been inserted into nearly 7,000 holes in the pillars. When blast will take place in these holes, they will help in crashing pillars of both the buildings resulting in demolition of the structures.
