BJP leader Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga was arrested on Friday morning from his residence in Delhi by the Punjab Police on charges of making provocative statements, promoting religious enmity, and criminal intimidation.

New Delhi: A day after high voltage drama over arrest of leader Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga by Punjab Police, Delhi Police on Saturday said that the BJP leader has injury marks on his body.
BJP leader Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga was arrested on Friday morning from his residence in Delhi by the Punjab Police on charges of making provocative statements, promoting religious enmity, and criminal intimidation.
However, enroute to Mohali, the Punjab Police were stopped by the Haryana Police after the Delhi Police registered a case of kidnapping against Punjab Police based on a complaint from Bagga’s father. The Delhi Police has now taken the custody of Bagga and is now being taken back to Delhi.
Bagga’s father said that his son was kidnapped by the Punjab Police and also told the media that the personnel who had come to take away the BJP leader allegedly hit him on his face. “This morning, 10-15 police personnel came to our home and dragged Tajinder out. When I picked up my mobile phone to record a video of the incident, police took me to another room and punched me in the face.”
On Saturday, a Mohali court had issued an arrest warrant against the saffron party leader and instructed the Punjab Police to arrest him and produce him before the court.
Hours after a Mohali court on Saturday issued an arrest warrant against BJP leader Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga, the saffron party leader moved the Punjab and Haryana High Court against his arrest warrant and in an urgent midnight hearing, the High Court directed the Punjab government to not take any coercive action against Bagga and stayed the arrest till the next hearing which will be held on May 10.
