Delhi Capitals have confirmed the return of skipper Rishabh Pant for the upcoming season of the IPL after he successfully obtained his fitness certificate.

The team shared a photo of the wicketkeeper-batsman on their social media platforms with a caption that expressed excitement for his comeback, saying, “Ready to ROAR Welcome back, Rishabh Pant. Can’t wait to see you.”

Pant’s return, following his recovery from a life-threatening car accident in 2022, will undoubtedly uplift the morale of the team from the capital city, who are eager to clinch their maiden IPL title.

Having endured a harrowing crash over a year ago, Rishabh Pant has made a remarkable recovery from the accident that initially required intensive medical attention.

After steadily progressing on the road to recovery, Rishabh Pant received medical clearance from the NCA on Tuesday.

In the upcoming edition of the IPL, Pant will lead the charge for Delhi Capitals as they aim to secure the elusive title. Despite their consistent presence in the tournament, the title has eluded them so far.

In the previous season, Delhi missed out on a playoff spot, finishing 9th in the 10-team table, just ahead of Sunrisers Hyderabad. They won 5 out of their 14 matches, accumulating 10 points.

Ahead of the new season, Delhi Capitals were active in the pre-season auction, bolstering their squad with several overseas players such as Australian pacer Jhye Richardson, English batter Harry Brook, West Indies all-rounder Shai Hope, and South African wicketkeeper Tristan Stubbs. They also made domestic acquisitions, including Kumar Kushagra, Sumit Kumar, Ricky Bhui, Swastik Chhikara, and Rasikh Dar.

Delhi Capitals kick off their 2024 IPL campaign with an away fixture against Punjab Kings in Mohali on March 23, followed by a match against Rajasthan Royals in Jaipur on March 28.
