New Delhi: Congress president Sonia Gandhi has once again tested positive for Covid-19, said party MP and spokesperson Jairam Ramesh. He added Gandhi is stable and will remain in isolation for now.
This comes just two months after she tested positive for the virus in June and had sought time from the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to appear before it for interrogation in an alleged money-laundering case related to the National Herald newspaper.
Ramesh tweeted, “Congress President Smt.Sonia Gandhi has tested positive for Covid-19 today. She will remain in isolation as per Govt. protocol.”

On June 1, Congress chief, her son Rahul Gandhi were summoned by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with a money laundering case related to the National Herald newspaper, which is run and owned by the Congress party.
After the interrogations were over, Rahul Gandhi addressed Congress workers and said, “The officials of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) know that they cannot scare a Congress leader.” His comment had come a day after the Enforcement Directorate had interrogated him for the fifth day for almost 12 hours in the National Herald case.
In April, the ED had questioned former Union minister Pawan Bansal and senior Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge in connection with the money laundering probe into the National Herald case.
The investigation against the Congress leaders was initiated after a probe into a private criminal complaint filed by BJP leader Subramanian Swamy in 2013. The complaint alleged cheating and misappropriation of funds on part of the Gandhis in the acquisition of the newspaper.
