New Delhi: A purported video of a women TV employee of Russian Channel 1 emerged on social media running onto live show with a sign “No war…Don’t believe the propaganda. They’re lying to you here.” The women stood behind the TV show presenter showing the sign to viewers.
The woman TV employee, identified as Marina Ovsyannikova, was later arrested for the same and is currently in police custody as per reports. She works as an editor at Channel 1.
Earlier, she recorded a video of herself by which she referred to the Russian invasion as a ‘crime’ and mentioned she was ashamed to have labored for “Kremlin propaganda”.
“I’m ashamed that I allowed myself to tell lies from the television screen. Ashamed that I allowed Russians to be turned into zombies,” she mentioned.
She urged Russian folks to protest in opposition to the battle and mentioned solely they may “stop the madness”.
Since the incident, Marina Ovsyannikova’s Facebook web page has reportedly overflowed with feedback thanking her for her act of protest.
Even Ukraine President Zelenskyy thanked her in a video message. He mentioned, “I am grateful to those Russians who do not stop trying to convey the truth…and personally to the woman who entered the studio of Channel One with a poster against the war.”
