The arrested sharpshooter, identified as Siddhesh Hiraman Kamble alias Saurav alias Mahakal, was picked up for his alleged role in another murder case.
Pune: The Pune Rural Police on Wednesday claimed to have arrested one of the eight sharpshooters of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang named by the Punjab Police in the Sidhu Moosewala murder case.
The arrested sharpshooter, identified as Siddhesh Hiraman Kamble alias Saurav alias Mahakal, was picked up for his alleged role in another murder case where a 24-year-old hardened criminal was shot dead in broad daylight in August last year.
The Pune Police are also hunting another sharpshooter, Santosh Jadhav, who too has been named in the Sidhu Moosewala murder case. Sources said, Jadhav is the main accused in the last year’s murder.
Mahakal’s arrest came a day after the Punjab Police on Tuesday had said that they have arrested at least eight persons for playing some role in the murder of Sidhu Moosewala. The police had also said that one among the eight arrested impersonated as Moosewala’s fan and had clicked a selfie with the singer outside his home moments before Sidhu Moosewala was killed.
Meanwhile, on Wednesday, Sidhu Moosewala’s parents requested people to plant saplings in the memory of the slain Punjabi singer. This came after it was noticed that at the memorial raised at the spot where Sidhu Moosewala was cremated was being thronged by his fans and the singer being revered as a god. Many of Sidhu Moosewala’s fans are offering money and praying at the memorial, following which, his family erected a board at the memorial asking people to plant saplings in the memory of Sidhu Moosewala.
The singer’s family also attended his bhog ceremony held at Mansa town, 10 km from Moose village, where several NGOs distributed plants to the people who attended the event. Fans from all parts of Punjab reached Mansa to pay their last respect.
