Russia’s defence ministry said on Friday that separatists in eastern Ukraine with help from Russia’s armed forces were “tightening the noose” around the Ukrainian city of Mariupol, Russia’s RIA Novosti news agency reported.

New Delhi: One person was reportedly killed several others were injured after parts of a Russian missile fell in Ukraine’s northern Kyiv Friday. Emergency services of Ukraine, in a statement, said that 12 people were rescued and 98 were evacuated from the five-storey building.
Several blasts were also reported from Lviv, another city of the war-torn country, as missiles were reportedly launched from the Black Sea. Two of the six missiles that were launched were shot down, Ukrainian air force’s western command said on Facebook.
Artillery fire by Russian forces Thursday had reportedly hit a school killing at least 21 people while injuring 25 others in the town of Merefa outside the city of Kharkiv in eastern Ukraine, local prosecutors said.
Prosecutors’ statement had showed a photo of a building of several storeys that was destroyed in the middle with windows blown out and emergency workers combing through the wreckage. Of the wounded, 10 people are reportedly in a serious condition, they said.
In another attack on Thursday, Russia had allegedly dropped a bomb on a theatre in Ukraine’s Mariupol which housed hundreds of civilians amid the war. However, the Russian side denied the claims even as Ukraine accused it of committing “a war crime”.
