Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi’s Rajya Sabha term comes to an end on Thursday.

New Delhi: Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi resigned from the post of Union Cabinet Minister of Minority Affairs on Wednesday. His Rajya Sabha term comes to an end on Thursday.
Earlier, the ruling BJP had decided not to re-nominate him as a candidate in the polls to the Upper House of Parliament. However, speculations are also rife that Naqvi may be proposed as the next vice-president of India, polls for which are slated to be held on August 6.
The speculations were sparked off after Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised Naqvi in the Union Cabinet meeting held on Wednesday.
