In a recent incident that has garnered attention, a Zomato customer received non-veg momos instead of the veg ones, he ordered during the auspicious period of Navratri.
The mix-up has sparked a controversy and raised questions about the company’s quality control and sensitivity to religious and dietary preferences.
Akash Gupta, a regular Zomato customer, has tweeted the incident in the social media handle X (formerly Twitter). He mentioned that he is a pure vegetarian, so he ordered veg momos from a ‘Wow Momo’ outlet, through Zomato. But instead of receiving veg momos, he received the non-veg one and moreover, this mistake happened during the Navaratri, which disappointed him even more.
As per the post, he ordered a combo of Veg Pan Fried Momos, Veg Moburg and Pepsi. “Hello @Wowmomo4u, @zomatocare @zomato, I’m pure vegetarian and I ordered veg things, but I got all nonveg items from your outlet, and the bad things is Navaratri going on how you can make this big mistake, there is clearly mention item detail” Akash Gupta tweeted.
As soon as the post surfed on the internet, it grabbed the attention of the viewers and Zomato’s team as well. Eventually, the brand responded to the issue and tweeted, ” Hi Akash, this is one big mix-up. It’s very serious and certainly not what we stand for. Mind sharing the order ID via DM so that we can resolve it ASAP”.
Not only that, Wow! Momo too conveyed their apology for the mix-up. The company wrote, “Dear Akash! We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience. We would never want something like this to happen. Requesting you to please share your invoice and contact details at [email protected] so that we can get in touch with you.”
It remains to be seen how the company will further enhance its processes to avoid similar incidents in the future and uphold its reputation as a reliable food delivery platform.
