PM Modi to lead International Yoga Day from Jammu and Kashmir

Modi will also inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for 84 major developmental projects in Jammu and Kashmir valued at over Rs 1,500 crore.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Jammu and Kashmir on June 20 and 21, 2024, to participate in significant events and launch multiple development projects.

On June 20, he will attend the event “Empowering Youth, Transforming J&K” at around 6 PM at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC) in Srinagar. This event is pivotal for showcasing progress and inspiring young achievers. During the event, the Prime Minister will inspect stalls and interact with young achievers from Jammu and Kashmir.

He will also inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for 84 major developmental projects valued at over Rs 1,500 crore. These projects include improvements in road infrastructure, water supply schemes, and higher education facilities, as well as the enhancement of the Chenani-Patnitop-Nashri section, development of industrial estates, and the construction of six government degree colleges.

Additionally, Prime Minister Modi will launch the Competitiveness Improvement in Agriculture and Allied Sectors Project (JKCIP), worth Rs 1,800 crore. This project will be implemented in 90 blocks across 20 districts, benefiting 300,000 households and 1.5 million individuals.

Furthermore, he will distribute appointment letters to over 2,000 individuals appointed to government service. These initiatives are expected to empower the youth and upgrade infrastructure in Jammu and Kashmir.

Yoga Day in Jammu and Kashmir

On June 21, at around 6.30 am, Prime Minister Modi will lead the 10th International Day of Yoga celebrations at SKICC, Srinagar.

He will address the gathering and participate in a Common Yoga Protocol (CYP) session. This year’s theme, “Yoga for Self and Society,” highlights the dual role of yoga in fostering individual and societal well-being.

The event aims to unite thousands in practicing yoga, promoting health and wellness globally. Since 2015, Prime Minister Modi has led International Day of Yoga celebrations at various iconic locations, including Kartavya Path in Delhi, Chandigarh, Dehradun, Ranchi, Lucknow, Mysuru, and the United Nations Headquarters in New York. These events underline the government’s commitment to empowering youth, enhancing infrastructure, and promoting health and wellness through yoga in Jammu and Kashmir.

Meanwhile, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has begun the process to hold the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections and has issued a notification to the tune.
