A five-year-old girl in Madhya Pradesh is fighting for her life after a horrific sexual assault, sending shockwaves across the state. The accused, a 17-year-old boy, has been detained and is being tried as a juvenile, the police confirmed on Friday.
The child, a resident of Shivpuri, had gone missing on February 23 and was found nearly two hours later, unconscious and covered in blood, on the terrace of a house in her neighborhood. According to doctors at Gwalior’s Kamala Raja Hospital, she required 28 stitches in her private parts and had to undergo an urgent colostomy procedure due to severe injuries.
Savage Assault Leaves Child in Critical Condition
Police reports reveal that the accused, allegedly intoxicated at the time, slammed the child’s head against a wall multiple times before brutalizing her. Apart from head injuries, her body bore deep scratches, bite marks, and multiple cuts.
Following a two-hour operation, doctors managed to stabilize her, but she remains in critical condition. Though she has regained consciousness, she has not spoken since the horrific attack.

The incident has ignited widespread outrage. The victim’s family is demanding the strictest punishment for the accused. “He should be shot openly on the road,” the distraught mother told reporters.
Political parties have also joined in, calling for justice. Leaders from both the Congress and the ruling BJP have set aside their differences, unanimously demanding a fast-track trial and the death penalty for the accused. Protests and demonstrations have erupted across the region, with leaders submitting a memorandum to the district administration, urging swift and severe action.
Fast-Track Justice Demanded
The unprecedented brutality of the case has led to calls for a fast-tracked judicial process. Officials have assured that they are expediting the investigation to ensure justice for the young survivor.
