A labourer lost his life and another was severely injured late Friday night when a car owned by popular Marathi actor Urmila Kothare ran over them in Mumbai’s Kandivli area. The actor and her driver also sustained injuries in the accident.
Police reported that. Kothare was on her way home after completing a shoot when her Hyundai Verna collided with two labourers working on a Metro project near the Poisar Metro station. The car reportedly lost control, leading to the fatal accident. One labourer died on the spot, while the other was rushed to a hospital and remains in critical condition.
The actor’s driver, who was behind the wheel, sustained severe injuries, while Kothare escaped with minor injuries. Sources stated that the car was being driven at high speed, and Kothare’s life was saved by the timely deployment of the airbag.

Legal Action and Investigation
A case has been registered against the driver under multiple sections, including rash driving and causing death by negligence. Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident, including allegations of overspeeding.
