TMC MPs Mitali Bag and Satabdi Roy claimed they were “pushed and heckled” amid protests against the bills.
“While we were protesting against the bill, Union ministers Ravneet Singh Bittu and Kiren Rijiju attacked me, they pushed me…This is condemnable…,” TMC MP Mitali Bag said.
The BJP has not yet commented on the allegations.
The uproar in Parliament came as Amit Shah tabled three bills — The Constitution (130th Amendment) Bill, The Jammu & Kashmir Reorganization (Amendment) Bill, and The Government of Union Territories (Amendment) Bill. The proposed legislations seek a new framework affecting ministers, chief ministers, and the Prime Minister if jailed for 30 consecutive days.
Opposition MPs, including AIMIM’s Asaduddin Owaisi and Congress leaders Manish Tewari and KC Venugopal, strongly opposed the move, calling it unconstitutional and against federalism. Proceedings were adjourned till 5 pm after opposition leaders tore and threw copies of the bills at Amit Shah.

Amit Shah, however, rejected claims that the bills were brought in haste, stressing that they were referred to the Joint Committee of Parliament, where members of both Houses, including opposition leaders, would be able to present suggestions.
Kiren Rijiju Responds to Protests
Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju criticised the opposition for continuous disruptions in the House.
“Creating disruption only harms the opposition, especially the new MPs. The more chaos you create, the more the public will completely reject you. Once again, I urge you all to participate in the discussion,” Rijiju said.
He further remarked, “Since the monsoon session began, these people (Opposition) have been continuously shouting slogans. For the past three days, it has been decided to honour Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla, but it is very unfortunate that the hero of our country—who travelled to space and hoisted the Indian flag—was not even given the opportunity to be honoured because of the actions of the opposition. This is truly shameful.”
