As per the report, Seema Parta had isolated the domestic help, Sunita, in a separate room at her house in Ranchi and was not giving her food and water.

Ranchi: After reports of a domestic help being brutally tortured by a BJP leader who is wife of an ex-IAS officer for eight years, the party has suspended her from all positions. The accused Seema Parta, wife of retired bureaucrat Maheshwar Patra, has tormented her maid who is from Tribal community. Parta is a member of the national working committee in BJP’s women wing and was earlier with Congress.
As per the report, Seema Parta had isolated the domestic help, Sunita, in a separate room at her house in Ranchi and was not giving her food and water. Various parts of her body have burn marks which were done by Seema Parta with a hot pan. The domestic help was forcibly confined in a bathroom for several years which was like a room and bathroom for her. Her teeth have also been broken with hard objects. In result of the brutal tortured, the victim is not able to speak from herself.
Since the matter came to light, police rescued the maid and took her to the RIMS hospital for medical treatment where she is recuperating. Maid Sunita, a tribal woman, is from a village in Jharkhand Gumla. She had started working as a maid at the home of Maheshwar and Seema Parta in Jharkhand almost 10 years ago but was later sent to Vatsala Part’s home in Delhi. Vatsala Parta is sister of accused Seema Parta. Sunita then returned to Ranchi after their transfer. During this period, she was harassed, beaten up on many occasions. The she requested to go back to home was tortured for this also.
Vivek Baski, a Personnel Department officer, reportedly came to know of the atrocities against Sunita following which he informed DC Rahul Kumar Sinha. Sunita was then released in front of the magistrate on August 22.
Ranchi Police has registered a case at Argora police station under sections 323, 325, 346, and 374 of the IPC and provisions of the SC-ST Act 1989 in accordance with Vivek Baski’s complaint. The victim’s statement will also be recorded in court under Section 164 once her condition will be normal.
Since the video of domestic help went viral on the internet, Jharkhand BJP suspended her from the party. Jharkhand BJP chief Deepak Prakash ordered the action against Ms Patra after videos of her domestic help accusing her of torture went viral.
