The Jharkhand Legislative Assembly on Saturday celebrated its 25th Foundation Day (Silver Jubilee) with a grand and historic ceremony held at the Assembly premises in Ranchi. Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar and Chief Minister Hemant Soren attended the event as chief guests, marking an important milestone in the state’s political and developmental journey.
CM Hemant Soren extended his greetings to all MLAs, ministers, MPs, the Assembly Speaker, and staff members on the Assembly’s Silver Jubilee. He said the creation of Jharkhand was the result of a long struggle, countless sacrifices, and the unwavering efforts of the tribal and indigenous communities. He added that the state’s distinct identity and current progress stand on the foundation laid by ancestors and martyrs who fought tirelessly for a separate state.
The Chief Minister noted that the 25-year journey of Jharkhand has been full of important experiences. He highlighted that the recent Silver Jubilee celebrations by the Jharkhand Government, the Jharkhand High Court, and now the Jharkhand Assembly reflect the continuity of the state’s commitment to development.
‘Baba Shibu Soren Was the Soul and Symbol of Jharkhand’s Struggle’
Remembering Dishom Guru Shibu Soren, the CM said it was deeply unfortunate that the architect of the Jharkhand movement was not present on this historic day. He emphasised that Shibu Soren dedicated every moment of his life to protecting the identity, rights, and dignity of the state’s people. Under his leadership, the Jharkhand movement transformed into a mass movement that eventually paved the way for the formation of the state.

CM Soren said the late leader was not only an inspiration but the very embodiment of Jharkhand’s soul, struggle, and self-respect. His ideals and contributions, he added, will continue guiding future generations.

The Chief Minister said that despite the formation of the state, Jharkhand had not achieved the expected progress in poverty reduction, nutrition, and social justice. However, the current government has taken firm steps toward economic, educational, and social empowerment.
Through initiatives like the Right to Service, government schemes are being delivered directly to the people. He said the administration aims to ensure justice, transparency, and sensitivity in all regions so that every citizen can easily access constitutional rights and essential services.

During the ceremony, CM Hemant Soren congratulated Raj Sinha, selected as the Outstanding MLA, and said that such recognition reflects the dignity of the House and the discipline and dedication of elected representatives.
Governor Gangwar, CM Soren and Speaker Rabindranath Mahato honoured outstanding Assembly employees as well as Jharkhand’s brave police personnel and soldiers who were martyred at the border and in anti-Naxal operations, presenting them with mementos, certificates and honorariums.
