Srinagar: In his first visit to Srinagar since the abrogation of Article 370, Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted the importance of development and unveiled multiple projects valued at over Rs 6,400 crore.
In his address, PM Modi also criticised the Congress and its allies for misleading the people of the state regarding the details of Article 370, which was abrogated in August 2019.
With barely a few months left for the Lok Sabha polls, Modi’s visit to Jammu and Kashmir bears importance for the BJP.
Addressing a gathering at Srinagar’s Bakshi stadium Modi said, “The success story of Jammu and Kashmir will be the centre of attraction for the world.” He also reiterated his commitment to the region’s progress.
Drawing attention to the symbolism of the lotus, the BJP’s symbol, PM Modi remarked on its prevalence in the lakes of Kashmir and even in the logo of the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association. He posed the question, “Is it a coincidence or a sign of nature that the BJP’s symbol is also a lotus and Jammu & Kashmir has a deep connection with the lotus?”
