Last week, a Delhi court had denied bail to eight accused in connection with the Jahangirpuri violence during procession on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti in April. The court also observed prima facie ‘failure’ on part of the police for not stopping the procession on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti as it was being carried out without proper permission.
The court had refused to grant bail to accused persons namely Imteyaz, Noor Alam, Shiekh Hamid, Ahmad Ali, Sheikh Hamid, SK Shahada, Sheikh Zakir and Ahir. It said that identification of arrested accused has been done on the basis of CCTV footage and even by eyewitnesses of the incident.
