The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have recovered the body of Hamas hostage Amit Buskila from the Gaza Strip, seven months after her death and brought her back to Israel for burial.
Amit Buskila, a 28-year-old fashion stylist and social media influencer with a passion for cooking, was killed during a Hamas attack at the Supernova desert rave on October 7.
During the attack, Amit Busalika made a desperate phone call to her uncle Shimon, informing him that she was hiding behind cars as Hamas operatives approached Mefalsim, where she had fled from the rave. Her final words, “No, no, no,” followed by a faint “I love you,” were heard during this call.
The IDF also recovered the bodies of two other hostages, Shani Louk, 23, and Itzik Gelenter, 53, in the same operation. According to IDF spokesperson Daniel Hagari, the three hostages were brutally murdered while attempting to escape and their bodies were dragged into Gaza.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed his sorrow on the passing of Amit Busalika, stating he was “heartbroken for the great loss” in a post on X.
Following the October 7 attack, which resulted in the deaths of approximately 1,200 people and the taking of dozens of hostages, Israel launched a counter-attack in Gaza. According to the Hamas-run health ministry, this retaliatory attack has resulted in over 35,000 deaths and nearly 80,000 injuries to date.
