Iran’s Revolutionary Guards have reportedly seized a container ship in the Gulf that is said to be connected to Israel. This action has further escalated tensions in the region.
In response, Israel’s army has warned Iran of the consequences of their actions. Military spokesman Daniel Hagari stated that Iran will bear the consequences for choosing to escalate the situation.
The container ship, named ‘MCS Aries’, was seized by the Sepah Navy Special Forces of Iran through a heliborne operation near the Strait of Hormuz.
The ship has now been directed towards Iran’s territorial waters. Additionally, regional authorities off the coast of the United Arab Emirates have reportedly seized another vessel, although details remain limited.
Iran’s Revolutionary Guards have used similar methods in the past while seizing vessels in the Strait of Hormuz. The United States has announced the deployment of military reinforcements to the region following Iran’s vow of retaliation for an attack on its embassy in Syria. President Joe Biden expects Iran to target Israel in the near future.
India on travel to Iran, Israel
In light of the escalating tensions in the region, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) issued a travel advisory on Friday, urging Indian citizens to refrain from traveling to Iran or Israel until further notice.
The advisory, disseminated by Randhir Jaiswal, the Official Spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs, stated, “In view of the prevailing situation in the region, all Indians are advised not to travel to Iran and Israel till further notice.”
The move comes amidst heightened tensions in the Middle East, particularly following recent developments involving Iran and Israel. The MEA’s precautionary measure aims to ensure the safety and well-being of Indian nationals in light of the uncertain situation in the region.
