New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday launched the PM-SURAJ national portal via video conferencing to extend credit support to the disadvantaged segments of society.
The PM-SURAJ (Pradhan Mantri Samajik Utthan evam Rozgar Adharit Jankalyan) national portal is aimed at fostering socio-economic empowerment.
During the programme, Prime Minister Modi interacted with beneficiaries from various government schemes, including entrepreneurs from marginalized communities. Narendra Sen, the founder of an internet company in Indore, shared his inspiring journey from a humble background to a successful entrepreneur, emphasizing his commitment to digital empowerment for MSMEs. Praising such initiatives, the Prime Minister highlighted the transformative potential of entrepreneurship among the youth.
Neelam Kumari from Jammu, who runs a boutique, expressed gratitude for government support during challenging times, citing schemes like Ujjwala, PM Awas, Ayushman, and Swachh Bharat.
Similarly, Naresh from Maharashtra, co-founder of Jal Jeevan Agrotech, lauded government initiatives like the Ambedkar Social Innovation Mission, which provided essential financial aid for his startup. These anecdotes underscored the tangible impact of government schemes on grassroots entrepreneurship and livelihoods.
During the PM Suraj national portal launch event, another poignant interaction came from Muthamma, a safai karamchari from Guntur, who shared how a government-provided vehicle transformed her life, reflecting the government’s commitment to dignity and prosperity for all citizens, especially women in marginalized sectors.
Prime Minister Modi emphasised the significance of this outreach, acknowledging the virtual presence of millions and stressing the government’s unwavering commitment to uplift the underprivileged.
He announced the transfer of financial assistance totalling Rs 720 crores to one lakh beneficiaries across 500 districts, underscoring the efficiency of direct benefit transfers and the launch of the SURAJ Portal to streamline assistance delivery.
Furthermore, PM Modi outlined a comprehensive approach towards inclusive development, addressing various sectors such as healthcare, education, and employment. He reiterated the government’s resolve to prioritize the welfare of Dalits, backward classes, and tribal communities, emphasizing initiatives like Mudra Yojna and Standup India Scheme to promote entrepreneurship and self-employment.
Prime Minister Modi reaffirmed his commitment to fostering a prosperous and equitable society, vowing to intensify efforts towards the realization of Viksit Bharat. The event showcased the government’s proactive stance in empowering marginalized communities and laying the foundation for an inclusive, prosperous nation.
