New Delhi: Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari on Friday sanctioned a considerable about of funds for the upgradation, development and maintenance of several road stretches in the country.
In a social media post, Gadkari said for upgrading Khokhra Gujarat Border – Vijayanagar – Antarsuba – Mathasur Road section of National Highway 58 in Palanpur district of Gujarat to 2-lane with PS (paved shoulder) Rs 699.19 crore has been sanctioned under Hybrid Annuity Mode.
Nitin Gadkari said National Highway-58 connects Gujarat and Rajasthan and also connects Ambaji Temple, Udaipur, Polo Forest and other archaeological monuments and various tourist places.
In a statement, the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways said, “This section of National Highway 58 is proposed to upgrade the existing single/two lane road to 2 lanes with PS and involves realignment in 14 stretches passing through hilly terrain. The project will provide better connectivity and boost economic activities in the region.”
In another post, Nitin Gadkari said for the development, operation and maintenance of the existing ropeway between Ujjain Junction Railway Station and Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain district of Madhya Pradesh, Rs 188.95 crore has been approved under the Hybrid Annuity Mode.
Gadkari said the proposed ropeway will help in movement, especially during the peak pilgrimage season, and reduce the travel time to seven minutes. The ropeway will facilitate 64,000 pilgrims every day.
Nitin Gadkari said it will promote tourism and provide eco-friendly means of transportation while creating new employment opportunities.
In a third post, Gadkari said in Assam, an allocation of Rs 421.15 crore has been approved for the construction of a 4-lane Gauripur Bypass along NH-17 (New)/NH-31(Old), spanning from Dumardoha Pt-II to the Baladmara road in Dhubri district.
Gadkari said covering a total length of 9.61 kilometre, the project aims to alleviate congestion in the Gauripur town and mitigate risks associated with sharp bends on the current highway, thereby enhancing safety.
The implementation of this bypass, equipped with comprehensive road safety measures, is anticipated to contribute significantly to the reduction of accidents in the region.
In a fourth post, Gadkari said in Karnataka, an allocation of Rs 576.22 crore has been sanctioned for the 4-laning of the Yedegowdanahalli to Arjunahalli segment of NH-373 in Hassan district, spanning 22.3 kilometre.
Gadkari said this corridor serves as a vital link to renowned tourist destinations such as Chikamagaluru, Belur, Halebeedu and Shravanabelagola. “The project’s implementation promises enhanced connectivity, poised to invigorate tourism and stimulate economic endeavors within the region,” the ministry said in a statement.
