New Delhi: In a virtual message on Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke at the 6th International Conference on Disaster Resilient Infrastructure. He welcomed dignitaries, stressing their crucial role in shaping global discourse on the issue. Modi noted the Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure’s growth, now comprising 39 countries and 7 organizations, emphasizing its significance.
Highlighting the impact of natural disasters, Modi emphasized the human toll beyond monetary evaluations. He underlined the necessity of investing in resilient infrastructure for a secure future, integrating resilience into both new construction and post-disaster rebuilding efforts. Modi stressed shared resilience, asserting that collective global resilience requires individual national resilience.

He emphasized support for vulnerable regions, citing CDRI projects in 13 Small Island Developing States. PM Narendra Modi highlighted initiatives in Dominica, Papua New Guinea, the Dominican Republic, and Fiji, expressing satisfaction with CDRI’s focus on the Global South. Referring to India’s G20 Presidency, he discussed the formation of a Disaster Risk Reduction Working Group, highlighting its focus on financing.
