New Delhi: In a bid to galvanize support from the youth ahead of the Lok Sabha election, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has revealed a set of five promises pledged by the Congress party if it wins the forthcoming polls.
At a Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra rally held in Rajasthan’s Banswara, Rahul Gandhi, flanked by party president Mallikarjun Kharge, said, “We have identified a staggering 30 lakh government vacancies left unfilled by the current administration. Our foremost commitment upon assuming office will be to address this issue by filling 90 per cent of these vacancies, with priority given to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, backward castes and minorities, constituting 90 percent of the population.”
Highlighting the party’s vision for youth empowerment, Rahul Gandhi outlined the second promise and said, “Like the Right to Employment under MGNREGA, we propose to introduce a Right to Apprenticeship for all graduates and diploma holders. This entails providing a year-long apprenticeship opportunity in either private companies or government offices immediately following completion of their academic pursuits, with a stipend of Rs 1 lakh.”
Underlining the imperative of fair examinations, Rahul Gandhi underscored, “Our third promise involves enacting legislation to combat paper leaks, ensuring standardized examination procedures without outsourcing to private entities.”

To foster entrepreneurial spirit among the youth, Rahul Gandhi announced the fifth promise — establishment of a Startup Fund worth Rs 5,000 crore, to be available at the district level, under the banner of ‘Yuva Roshni’.
Addressing concerns raised during his previous Bharat Jodo Yatra regarding unemployment, Rahul Gandhi reiterated the party’s commitment to implementing a Minimum Support Price (MSP) law, assuring farmers of legal guarantees for MSP.
In a poignant appeal to marginalized communities, Rahul Gandhi urged them to recognize their collective strength, emphasizing the need for inclusive representation in Indian institutions and economic sectors. He underscored the stark disparity in societal participation and economic opportunities faced by SCs, STs, backward classes, and minorities.
Batting for caste census as a pivotal step towards social equity, Rahul Gandhi drew parallels to a medical X-ray, asserting the necessity of diagnosing and addressing the systemic injustices faced by marginalized communities for societal progress.
As the Lok Sabha elections loom on the horizon, Rahul Gandhi’s articulation of these promises underscores Congress’s commitment to youth empowerment and social inclusion, signaling a rallying call for change in India’s political landscape.
