New Delhi: As the war between Russia and Ukraine is continued on seventh consecutive, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on Friday said that India can play a role of mediator between the two countries. Larvov’s statement came after his meeting with Prime Minister NArendra Modi on Friday evening. The Russian Foreign Minister in on visit to India from Thursday evening.
“India is an important and serious country and is our common partner. If India sees to play that role which provides resolution of the problem… If India is with its position of a just and rational approach to international problems, it can support such a process,” he said.

A few days ago, Ukraine Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba had requested India to use its influence with Russia to stop the war that is in its second month and cost thousands of lives. “We will welcome, if India plays a role of mediator in both war affected countries,” the Ukrainian Minister had said.
The Russian Foreign Minister hold talks with his Indian counterpart S Jaishankar where bilateral issues were discussed between the both. He said that the Moscow is ready to discuss oil requirement of India if there is willingness to do so. “If India wants to buy anything from Russia, we are ready to discuss it,” Lavrov said.
“Russian President and Indian Prime minister are in constant touch to each other and I will report to Mr Putin about my negotiations. He sends by the way his best regards to Prime Minister Modi and I would appreciate an opportunity to deliver this message personally,” he said during his discussion with Indian Foreign Minister.
