According to the reports, some parts of southwest, southern and central England and all of eastern England are affected due to prolonged drought situation.

New Delhi: Amid reports of severe heatwave conditions in most parts of England forced authorities to declare drought-hit on Friday. With the announcement to this effect, restrictions will be imposed on use of use of water on commercial as well as domestic level for families living in the affected areas. Earlier, droughts were declared in 2018 and a more severe one in 2011.
According to the reports, some parts of southwest, southern and central England and all of eastern England are affected due to prolonged drought situation.
A group formed to look after drought situation in the country to deal with the situation before making the announcement of drought status. The group, known as National Drought Group had comprised representatives from the Environment Agency, government, water companies and key representative groups from the country.
A member of the group informed that they are experiencing a second heatwave after what was the driest July on record for parts of the country. They said that the authorities are better prepared than ever before for periods of dry weather, but they will continue to closely monitor the situation, including impacts on farmers and the environment, and take further action as needed.
Apart from this, people living in the drought-hit areas are being asked to be careful and use water wisely. They are also being urged to be mindful of pressures on resources.
It may be noted that various parts of UK have been witnessing intense heatwave condition in recent days as very less rainfall has been recorded this time. In many parts, temperature went as high as 35 degrees Celsius, Southern England is an area which is highly affected. Amid the record-breaking heatwave, water levels have also been depleted in rivers, reservoirs and aquifers.
