Firing at Kolkata Museum: Paramilitary jawan dead, other injured

Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) has been looking after security of the museum since December 2019.

Kolkata: In a firing incident at Kolkata Museum on Saturday, a paramilitary jawan was died while other was injured after their colleague fired indiscriminately inside their barrack. The barrack of paramilitary force is attached at the Indian Museum in the city.

According to the police, the constable who opened fire at his colleagues has been disarmed and arrested. Police said that the incident happened between 6 and 7 pm in which one CISF jawan was shot dead while another suffered serious bullet injuries. “The jawan who fired bullets on other jawans has been taken into custody. The injured personnel have been admitted at hospital for further treatment,” said a police official.

As per the report, AK Mishra head constable, CISF posted at national museum Kolkata opened fire. Assistant Commandant sustained injury in his hand injured while ASI died in the incident.  Head Constable was not allowing anyone to enter however later IG, CISF entered and made him surrender.

It may be noted that the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) has been looking after security of the museum since December 2019.
