New Delhi: Panic created during fourth of July parade at Chicago suburb on Monday when a gunman started firing at participants causing injuries to several people. The incident was reportedly occurred moments after the celebration started as the gunmen fired bullets from roof of a nearby retail shop.
Video emerged on social media platforms witnessed people in panicked situation. They were seen fleeing from the parade celebration as bullets were being fired on them in the streets of Highland Park. Additionally, voice of gunshots can be heard from video social on internet.
As per the report, the shooting occurred on the route of Independence Day Parade. Though it is not clear that how many people suffered bullet injury. Local media, however, have reported that nearly nine people have been injured during the gunfire.
Due to the incident, the city administration has cancelled the event. “Highland Park Police are responding to an incident in downtown Highland Park. All 4th of July events have been canceled. Please avoid downtown Highland Park. Take shelter if in downtown HP. More information will be shared as it becomes available,” its post on Facebook read.
Earlier on May 25, An 18 -year-old gunman had opened fire at the Robb Elementary School, a school in Texas, and had killed at least 19 children and three adults. When the police tried to arrest him, he died, said reports.

NYT had reported that the slayings took place just before noon at Robb Elementary School, where second through fourth graders in Uvalde, a small city west of San Antonio, were preparing to start summer break this week. At least one teacher was among the adults killed, and several other children were wounded.
As terrified parents in Uvalde had waited for word of their children’s safety and law enforcement officials raced to piece together how the attack had transpired, the mass shooting was deepening national political debate over gun laws and the prevalence of weapons, said NYT. Ten days earlier, a gunman fatally shot 10 people inside a Buffalo, New York, grocery store.
Texas Governor Greg Abbott had said earlier that the suspect had also died, adding that “it is believed that responding officers killed him.”
The attack had taken place in Uvalde – a small community about an hour from the Mexican border. The attack was the deadliest US school shooting in years.
Abbott, while addressing a news conference, had named the suspect as Salvador Ramos, an 18-year-old local resident and a US citizen.
Meanwhile, US President Joe Biden had asked Americans to stand up to the gun lobby and pressure members of Congress to pass sensible gun law.
