“As much as 99% officers of Punjab are honest and only 1% of them are corrupt,” he said.
New Delhi: Toeing his political guru and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s line, newly-inducted Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann Thursday in a video message said that on March 23, the death anniversary of firebrand revolutionaries Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev he will launch a WhatsApp number, his personal, so that people can share audios and videos of incidents of corruption in the state.
He also added, “If someone is asking for a bribe, do not say no to it. Simply make a video or audio clip and send it to my WhatsApp number. I guarantee you that my office will investigate and take the strictest action against the corrupt officer.”
He was quick to add that he is not targeting any officer or not saying officials of Punjab are corrupt. “As much as 99% officers of Punjab are honest and only 1% of them are corrupt,” he said.
He further said, “These 1% officers bring a bad name to the honest officers and I won’t let this happen. I am with the honest officers.”
Mann said, “The people of Punjab, by giving so many votes, have done their duty. Now, it is my turn to do my responsibility. This announcement is so big that probably Punjab has never seen such a big announcement. This announcement will change the lives of the people of Punjab.”
He added, “Wherever I used to go, people used to talk about how they are reeling under corruption and asked me to change the system.”
“Just like Kejriwal had introduced a system of sending him audio and video messages of corruption, a move that stopped corruption in Delhi, I will do the same here in Punjab in a few days. On the shaheedi diwas of Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev I will launch a helpline number.”
Mann also took the opportunity to slam the other parties of the state and said, “Only AAP can stop corruption. The other parties have ruined the system and indulged in corrupt practices,” he said.
