Experts have said that the increase in the number of patients in the recent past does not suggest the onset of a new wave, but people should follow Covid appropriate behaviour to contain further spread of the virus.

New Delhi: Delhi on Saturday reported 1407 new patients of Coronavirus and 2 deaths. The positivity rate, however, came down to 4.27 per cent as a total of 29821 tests were conducted in the city. On Friday, the city witnessed 1656 new Covid infected patients and zero fatality. Friday’s figure was the highest in the last couple of months and the positivity rate was also 5.39 per cent.
With this, the total number of Covid cases rose to 18,92,832 in the national Capital and the death toll stands at 26,179, the data showed.
On Thursday, a total 1365 new cases were recorded and the positivity rate was 6.35 per cent. As of Wednesday, the city has recorded 1354 new cases with a positivity rate of 7.64 percent and one fatality. On Tuesday, 1414 new cases were recorded with a positivity rate of 5.97 percent and one death.
As per the data, less than three per cent of the total number of active patients have been admitted in the hospital. According to the health bulletin, a meagre 183 positive patients are admitted at hospital while remaining are getting treatment at homes. Total number of active cases is 5955, down from 6096 the previous day. The city has a total 1630 containment zones.
Earlier, Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain had said that though there is a rise in cases in the city but the situation was not serious as people were not developing severe disease.
