The custody comes a day after the Delhi Police interrogated Lawrence Bishnoi inside the Tihar Jail over the murder of singer-politician Sidhu Moose Wala.
New Delhi: The Delhi Police on Tuesday took jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi in its custody in connection with an Arms Act case. This comes a day after the Special Cell of the Delhi Police interrogated Bishnoi inside the Tihar Jail over the murder of singer-politician Sidhu Moose Wala.
Bishnoi was earlier lodged in a Rajasthan jail and was recently shifted to Delhi in connection with an MCOCA case. Police sources said once in Delhi, he allegedly contacted his associates and tasked Shahrukh to kill Moose Wala. However, the plan failed and later Shahrukh was arrested by a team of Delhi Police’s Special Cell.
The police had on Monday questioned Bishnoi and Shahrukh for allegedly planning the murder of Moose Wala. The suspicion on Bishnoi’s role came after his aide Goldy Brar claimed responsibility for the murder of Moose Wala. It is alleged that Bishnoi planned the murder from inside the jail with the help of internet calls.
The Arms Act case for which he has been taken is custody revolves around three Gogi gang members — Mukesh, Harvinder and Shakti — who were arrested in April. Mukesh had allegedly fired at the Assistant Jail Superintendent of Tihar Jail last year.
A senior police officer said Bishnoi’s name had cropped up in the investigation of the shootout. It is suspected that he was supplying weapons to the gangsters.
Meanwhile, a sea of people gathered at the last rites of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala at his village on Tuesday. As per reports, people from across the state turned up to participate in last journey of the 28-year-old singer who was shot dead by assailants on Sunday. State authorities, after going through the formalities, had handed over Moose Wala’s body to his family.
