In a landmark operation, over 500 kg of cocaine valued at Rs 2,000 crore was seized today in Delhi, marking the biggest drug bust in the city’s history. The police confirmed the arrest of four individuals in connection with the raid, which took place in South Delhi. According to officials, the massive cocaine consignment is linked to an international drug-smuggling syndicate.
A senior police officer involved in the operation stated, “This seizure is a major blow to the narcotics network operating not only in Delhi but across India. The scale of this operation shows that international syndicates are using Delhi as a transit hub for drug trafficking.”
This record-breaking drug bust comes on the heels of a series of recent narcotics-related incidents in the capital. On Sunday, two Afghan nationals were arrested in Delhi’s Tilak Nagar area after police recovered 400 grams of heroin and 160 grams of cocaine from their possession.
More Cocaine Seized at Delhi Airport
Adding to the growing concerns about drug smuggling in the region, Delhi Customs officials also seized 1,660 grams of cocaine from a passenger at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport on the same day. The cocaine, valued at over Rs 24 crore, was discovered during routine profiling and screening of international arrivals.

The arrested passenger is a national of the Federal Republic of Liberia and had arrived from Dubai. He has been charged under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985. In a statement posted on social media, Delhi Customs said, “On the basis of profiling, Customs@IGI Airport have seized 1,660 grams of cocaine valued at Rs. 24.90 cr from one male Pax of Federal Republic of Liberia Nationality who arrived from Dubai to Delhi. The Pax has been arrested under NDPS Act, 1985.”
Escalating Drug Trafficking in Delhi
The recent drug busts in Delhi point to a worrying rise in narcotic trafficking in the capital. The police are currently investigating possible connections between the different incidents and international drug cartels that may be using the city as a transit point.
“Further investigation is underway,” the police said, indicating that more arrests and seizures could follow as authorities crack down on the drug trade.
These developments highlight the growing challenge for law enforcement agencies as they work to curb the inflow of illegal drugs into the country, particularly through key urban centers like Delhi.
