Earlier, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) had questioned Chandasekhar and Fatehi together on suspicion of money laundering.

New Delhi: The Delhi Police on Friday questioned Bollywood actor Nora Fatehi for around four hours in connection with the extortion case linked to incarcerated conman Sukesh Chandrasekhar. Fatehi was questioned by the Economic Offences Wing of the Delhi Police.
Earlier, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) had questioned Chandasekhar and Fatehi together on suspicion of money laundering. When interrogated by the probe agency, Fatehi had denied having spoken to Chandrasekhar before December 12, 2020 but the conman said he had spoken to her two weeks prior to that after an event.
On the luxury BMC car which was allegedly gifted to her, Fatehi said she had initially said okay but later she reportedly told Chandrasekhar that she didn’t need it. She also told the probe agency that she told Bobby Khan, a family friend, to take the car if he is getting a chance. However, Chandrasekhar denied this claim and said he had directly gifted it to Fatehi.
The agency also asked Fatehi if there was exchange of expensive gifts, to which Fatehi said she was publicly gifted a Gucci bag and an Iphone 12 at an event where she was the chief guest. This is contrary to Chandrasekhar’s claim that he had gifted four bags to Fatehi, which, reportedly, she had chosen herself. He also said he had given some money to Fatehi.

According to the probing agencies, Chandrasekhar had allegedly extorted around Rs 215 crore from Aditi Singh and Shivender Singh, who are both the former promoters of Ranbaxy, a pharmaceutical giant.
Earlier, a Delhi court had sent Chandrasekhar and his wife Leena Maria Paul to three days ED remand in the extortion case. The duo was arrested under the PMLA for running an extortion racket from inside the prison.
Notably, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in its charge sheet on Wednesday said Bollywood actor Jacqueline Fernandez was aware of conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar’s criminal history. The probe agency said that she cooked up a false story during the investigation of a multi-crore money laundering case.
Jacqueline Fernandez knew about the criminal history of Sukesh Chandrashekhar and that Leena Maria Paul is his wife, the agency said. She overlooked his criminal past and continued to indulge in financial transactions with him, it added.
