The university students have been demanding action against those who are masterminds behind shooting of objectionable videos of girl students.
Chandigarh: Amid ruckus over ‘leaked video’ row in Chandigarh University, Punjab government on Sunday ordered an enquiry. Allegations have been made that a university girl has made videos of some girls and have shared them on social media platforms. The police, amid hue and cry by the victims and other fellow students, have arrested the accused girl and have claimed to investigate the matter.
Meanwhile, protests have erupted at university campuses since the matter has come into light. The university students have been demanding action against those who are the masterminds behind the shooting of objectionable videos of girl students.
As per the allegation, one of the university students captured videos of other girl students while taking bath in the hostel. The video was shared by the accused girl on social media and later it went viral.
Students, who have been protesting against the incident, claimed that some girl students have attempted to commit suicide. The university administration, however, claimed that no video has been found objectionable except a personal video shot by a girl which she herself shared with her male friend.
Amid claims of committing suicide by the girls, police said that no girl has made any such attempt. They said that no girl has been admitted to hospital in the incident.
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, in a tweet, said, “Sad to hear the incident of Chandigarh University…Our daughters are our pride…have ordered a high level inquiry into the incident..Whoever is guilty will take strict action. I am constantly in touch with the administration. I appeal to all of you to avoid rumours.”
AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal condemned the incident. He said that all the culprits involved in this will get the harshest punishment.
