Patna: Tension scaled up in ruling coalition in Bihar on Sunday as Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has called a meeting of all MPS and MLAs of Janata Dal (United) on Tuesday. Rift between the BJP and JDU is being witnessed days after the central government offered minimum representation of JD (U) MPs as union ministers. Recent controversy related with RCP Singh has also led friction with in the alliance parties as many of the JD (U) leaders have directly attacked BJP.

RCP Singh, a former IAS officer who was once considered as a close aide of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, was denied Rajya Sabha ticket by JD (U) last month which led friction between him and Kumar. Singh had on Saturday announced his departure from the JD (U). It is being rumoured that RCP Singh was inducted in Narendra Modi’s cabinet without consultation of Nitish Kumar.

The ousted JD (U) leader, in a press conference, said that conspiracy was hatched against him. “There is no cure of jealously. Bihar CM Nitish Kumar will not become Prime Minister in any of his seven lives. JD (U) is a sinking ship while party workers are being thoroughly ignored,” Singh had said.

Reacting over RCP Singh’s remarks against the Bihar Chief Minister, party’s national president Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lalan Singh said that JD (U) is not a sinking ship while it is a sailing ship. Lalan Singh, in a press conference, alleged that identification of leaders has been done who have been trying to damage the party and steps have been taken in this regard. Lalan Singh also criticised leaders of its alliance BJP.

Singh questioned, “The Chief Minister has decided that no JD (U) leader will be part of union cabinet then what the need becoming part of it was. The party will not join cabinet in near future.” His remarks hinted widening of gap between the two partners of the NDA.

There were 23 chief ministers (CMs) three lieutenant governors (LGs) and two administers besides few union ministers took part in the meeting. The Bihar CM avoided the meeting citing reasons of his bad health. His absence is being seen as another sign of widening gap between the coalition partners.
