The Bochaha bypoll was necessitated after the death of Musafir Paswan and was a prestige battle for the BJP after VIP exited from the NDA.
Patna: In the Bochahan Assembly seat in Bihar’s Muzaffarpur district, Rastriya Janata Dal (RJD) candidate Amar Kumar Paswan won after bagging 82,547 votes while BJP’s Baby Kumari stood a distant second with 45,889 votes and Geeta Kumari of the Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) is at the third place with 29,274 votes.
The Bochaha bypoll was necessitated after the death of Musafir Paswan and was a prestige battle for the BJP after VIP exited from the NDA. In fact, VIP’s exit may have split NDA’s votes and is likely to have advantaged RJD.
Tweeting an old video of RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, the party said the BJP has received a “vote ki chott”.
Thanking the votes already, Yadav took to Twitter and said, “People suffering from unemployment, inflation and poor education, health, agriculture and law and order, in the Assembly by-elections, have done a just job of defeating the anti-people policies and arrogance of the four parties involved in the double engine government and opportunistic NDA.”
In terms of vote share, RJD got 48.52% of the votes, while BJP got 26.98% votes, followed by others bagging 21.61% votes.
