A dramatic twist has emerged in the much-discussed Bengaluru road rage incident involving an Indian Air Force couple, as new video footage shows both the officer and the alleged attacker physically assaulting each other during the confrontation. Bengaluru police have now confirmed that the violence was not one-sided, but rather a case of mutual aggression stemming from a road rage altercation.
Meanwhile, according to reports, the IAF officer, Wing Commander Shiladitya Bose has been booked in a case of attempted murder.
From Viral Victim to Mutual Combat: A Complete Turnaround
The controversy began when Bose shared an emotional video on social media, his face and neck bloodied, recounting an attack he and his wife, Squadron Leader Madhumita Bose, endured on April 18 while heading from Bengaluru’s DRDO Colony in CV Raman Nagar to the airport.

In the original clip, Bose claimed a biker had stopped their vehicle, abused them in Kannada, and physically attacked him upon spotting a DRDO sticker on their car. His wife, who was driving, was allegedly verbally abused as well. The officer’s bleeding face and his heartfelt appeal for justice triggered an outpouring of support online.
New CCTV and Mobile Videos Reveal Both Sides Engaged in Violence
However, the narrative shifted on Sunday when fresh CCTV footage and mobile videos surfaced, showing Wing Commander Bose and the accused biker, identified as Vikas Kumar, involved in a street scuffle. The clips captured both men pushing, shoving, and striking each other on a Bengaluru pavement, while Squadron Leader Madhumita attempted to intervene.

Police Clarify: “Not a Kannadiga vs Non-Kannadiga Case”
Amid rising social media speculation framing the incident as a linguistic or regional conflict, Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Devaraj D dispelled the rumors, stating: “This is purely a case of road rage. An altercation broke out between both parties, and each side attacked the other. It is not a Kannadigas versus non-Kannadigas issue as has been portrayed online.”
The officer further revealed that both the Air Force couple and the biker have filed complaints against each other, and an FIR has been registered. Police have collected ample video evidence and are continuing their investigation.
The Initial Allegations by Wing Commander Bose
In his viral video, Bose had emotionally described the encounter: “A bike came from behind and stopped our car. The guy started abusing me in Kannada. When he noticed the DRDO sticker, he said, ‘You DRDO people’ and insulted my wife and me. The moment I got out, he hit me with a key on my forehead, and there was blood.”
Squadron Leader Madhumita later added that the biker’s rash driving had nearly collided with their car, prompting her to glance at him. She claimed the biker then deliberately stopped, blocked their path, and started hurling abuses before the situation spiraled into physical violence.
Police Statement on the FIR and Medical Response
DCP Devaraj D clarified that after the scuffle, Bose was advised by police at the station to seek first aid as his injuries were bleeding profusely. However, due to time constraints, he left for the airport, and his wife later returned to file the official complaint.
“Both sides have submitted their versions, and there is clear video evidence of mutual confrontation. We are handling the matter through lawful procedures,” Devaraj told reporters.
