Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, flanked by senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) figures, embarked on a march towards the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) headquarters today, leveling accusations against Prime Minister Narendra Modi of wielding arbitrary power over incarceration.
In his allegations, Arvind Kejriwal depicted AAP as a thorn in the BJP’s side, citing what he labeled “Operation Jhaadu” – an alleged concerted effort by the ruling party to destabilize AAP. “The PM has made up his mind to crush the Aam Aadmi Party,” Arvind Kejriwal claimed, contending that this operation involves the apprehension of key AAP members, freezing party finances, and shuttering their facilities.
“The PM has not stopped talking about AAP since my release on bail, emphasizing the party’s perceived threat,” Kejriwal asserted. Despite police assertions that AAP had not sought permission for the march, Kejriwal and his party colleagues persisted in their approach towards the BJP headquarters, encountering resistance from law enforcement officials who detained several AAP supporters.
DCP Delhi Central, Harsha Vardhan Mandava, disclosed the imposition of Section 144 on DDU Marg, restricting protest activities. Kejriwal’s accusations were buoyed by recent events, notably the arrest of his aide, Bibhav Kumar, linked to an alleged assault on AAP MP Swati Maliwal. He further alleged impending arrests, including those of AAP MP Raghav Chadha and Delhi ministers Atishi and Saurabh Bharadwaj.
Kejriwal’s rhetoric underscored AAP’s determination to withstand perceived political persecution, insisting, “The AAP is not going to be crushed like this. You try it once and see.” He accused PM Modi of a systematic campaign targeting AAP leaders, daring the government to test AAP’s resilience.
As tensions simmer between AAP and the BJP, Kejriwal’s march symbolizes the party’s defiance against what they perceive as an orchestrated attempt to stifle their political influence.
