New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal today skipped 8th summons of Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with Delhi Excise Police ‘scam’ saying that he is ready to reply to the probe agency via video conferencing. The Delhi CM, while terming the ED’s summons illegal, said that he is still ready to face the questions after 12th March. Kejriwal also has to appear before a city court on March 16 as the probe agency has approached the court requesting to direct him to appear before it.
The Aam Aadmi Party, in a statement, said that ED’s purpose is not to investigate and the BJP has been completely exposed. The party said that if CM is ready to answer then why ED is not questioning. ED’s purpose is not to question the party chief while its aim is to arrest Kejriwal in the middle of Lok Sabha elections. The party said that the central agencies should inquire through video conference and there should be live telecast of questioning.

Taking a dig at Kejriwal, Delhi BJP has said that Kejriwal is avoiding appearing before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) by making a mockery of its summons.
Earlier on 26th February, the Delhi CM had skipped 7th summons of the ED saying he will not appear before the agency if a court orders him to do so. The Aam Aadmi Party, of which Kejriwal is the convenor, had said that the agency should wait for the court order instead of summoning the minister repeatedly.
“Delhi Chief Minister and AAP National Convener Arvind Kejriwal will not go to ED today. The matter is in the court and the next hearing is on March 16. Instead of sending summons daily, the ED should wait for the court’s decision. We will not leave the INDIA alliance. The Modi government should not create pressure like this,” the AAP had said in a statement.
The CBI and ED have alleged money laundering and corrupt practices during the Delhi excise liquor policy’s framing, with liquor companies involved for higher profits. AAP leaders Manish Sisodia, Satyendar Jain, and Sanjay Singh are in jail over this alleged case.
