A leaked Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report is adding fuel to the fire and the BJP is leaving no stone unturned to corner the AAP government ahead of the Delhi Assembly elections slated to be held this year. The issue at hand involves claims about excessive costs linked to the renovation of Arvind Kejriwal’s official home located at 6, Flagstaff Road, Civil Lines.
The BJP has called the Delhi Chief Minister’s home a “Sheesh Mahal,” or a glass palace, accusing him of living too lavishly on taxpayers’ money. Virendra Sachdeva, the president of the Delhi BJP, stated that a report from the CAG pointed out 139 issues, mentioning that the residence cost around Rs33.86 crore by 2022.
He went on to suggest that when you include expenses from 2023 and 2024, the total might go over Rs 75-80 crore. The BJP also expressed worries about the absence of permissions from the Delhi Urban Arts Commission and the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, claiming that there were unauthorized building activities taking place.

BJP Questions AAP’s Priorities
During a rally, Prime Minister Narendra Modi criticized Arvind Kejriwal for valuing luxury over the needs of the public. He pointed out that the AAP has been neglecting vital infrastructure in Delhi, claiming that money meant for community development was instead used to build what he called the “Sheesh Mahal.”
The BJP is using this situation to challenge AAP’s honesty and dedication to serving the people, making it a central topic for the upcoming election.
In reply, the AAP has rejected these accusations, saying that the BJP is simply trying to distract from its own failures in governance. They insisted that the spending was proper and necessary for official reasons, following all the right rules. AAP leaders argued that the BJP’s spotlight on the residence is just a strategy to mislead the voters as the election approaches.
