Union minister Amit Shah’s West Bengal itinerary includes organisational meetings and a public rally, besides travel to forward areas along the India-Bangladesh border.

Kolkata: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday inaugurated the Border Security Force’s floating border outposts at Hingalganj in West Bengal’s North 24 Parganas. Shah also flagged off a boat ambulance.
The Union minister is on a two-day visit which is his first since BJP’s defeat in the 2021 West Bengal Assembly polls. Taking to Twitter, Shah said, “Inaugurated the Narmada, Sutlej and Kaveri floating border posts built by the central government to protect the inaccessible area of the Sundarbans on the Indo-Bangladesh border. These floating border posts will go a long way in helping our @BSF_India personnel to guard and guard the border.”
In a separate tweet he said, “This boat ambulance will prove to be very helpful in any emergency situation.”
At the Hingalganj camp, Shah was received by senior BSF officials. Shah’s Bengal itinerary includes organisational meetings and a public rally, besides travel to forward areas along the India-Bangladesh border.
Later on Thursday, he is scheduled to lay the foundation stone of the Maitri museum at Haridaspur and address a public meeting at Siliguri, said official sources. On Friday, Shah will visit the India-Bangladesh border area of Teen Bigha, where he is scheduled to interact with BSF personnel.
Shah, who arrived at the Kolkata airport, was received by senior BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari and Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Nisith Pramanik.
The Union minister, after attending a programme at Victoria Memorial Hall in Calcutta later on Friday, will hold a meeting with office-bearers at the state BJP headquarters.
