Centre gives them one time fund as per population to states town bodies but to Union Territories it gives regular funds. For example if Delhi were to get funds like Gurugram it would get Rs 730 crore per year but being UT Delhi gets over Rs. 25000 crore development infrastructure investment from the Centre annually, said Praveen Shankar Kapoor.
New Delhi: Delhi BJP Spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor on Tuesday said reaction of AAP MLA Atishi on MCD Unification showed political frustration. He said that during the last seven years Arvind Kejriwal government has done all it could to politically tarnish the image of the three MCDs economically and administratively.
“Atishi lied when she said that Delhi Government has given funds and loans to MCDs. Delhi government had to give funds as per Delhi Finance Commission recommendations to MCDs but instead of giving funds as per 5th DFC recommendations Arvind Kejriwal government starved MCDs by giving funds as per 3rd DFC recommendations. In that too it made cuts,” Kapoor said.
“In just concluded 2021-22 alone by not giving funds as per 5th DFC the Delhi Government denied MCDs funds of Rs 17577 crore. Atishi similarly lied on funds given by Centre to city municipal corporations like that of Ghaziabad or Gurugram,” he added.
Kapoor said that the Centre gives them one time fund as per population to states town bodies but to Union Territories it gives regular funds. For example if Delhi were to get funds like Gurugram it would get Rs 730 crore per year but being UT Delhi gets over Rs. 25000 crore development infrastructure investment from the Centre annually. “People of Delhi are hopefully looking forward to unification of MCDs and it will be better if AAP leaders instead of misleading people help in developing an exemplary civic body,” the BJP spokesperson added.
