The Fresno police department in the United States has officially debunked rumors circulating on social media regarding the alleged death of Goldy Brar, a Canada-based gangster wanted for his involvement in criminal activities.
Following a shooting incident in Fresno, California, where one person died, false information suggesting that the victim was Goldy Brar began circulating widely.
Lieutenant William J. Dooley clarified that these reports are entirely untrue and emphasized that the victim of the shooting is definitively not Goldy Brar. He highlighted the global attention and inquiries generated by this misinformation, emphasizing the rapid spread of false rumours on social media platforms and online news agencies.
The deceased individual from the shooting incident has been identified as 37-year-old Xavier Galdney, according to local reports. Goldy Brar, also known as Satinderjit Singh, remains a wanted criminal with a Red Corner Notice issued by Interpol and a non-bailable warrant against him under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.
Goldy Brar gained notoriety as a purported member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang and made headlines by claiming responsibility for the murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala through a Facebook post. Sidhu Moose Wala was fatally shot in his car near his village in Punjab’s Mansa district on May 29, 2022.
The Fresno police department’s response underscores the importance of verifying information before sharing it on social media, especially concerning sensitive and high-profile matters involving criminal activities. This incident serves as a cautionary tale about the risks associated with the dissemination of false information and the potential consequences of spreading misinformation online.
