Popular south actor Siddharth, who is known for his boldness, took a stance against those who were criticising the portrayal of ‘Chithha’. The actor who is famous for his outspoken nature, expressed his disappointment. The film ‘Chithha’ is an emotional thriller that deals with child abuse and torture.
In an event, Siddharth spoke about his 2023 film ‘Chithha’ and took an intentional dig at Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘Animal’. He used the film name in Tamil, ‘Mirugam’, and criticized those who found his film “disturbing” and “awful”.
The actor said, “No woman has ever approached me or Arun (the director) and told us that they couldn’t watch the film or it was disturbing. But many men have admitted that to us. They (the men) said they won’t watch such kind of movies. But, they (the men) can watch a film titled ‘Mirugam’ (Animal), but my film was too disturbing for them. It’s not disturbance, its shame and guilt. It’s okay, it will soon change.”
‘Chithha’, directed by SU Arun Kumar, is an emotional thriller which talks about child abuse. The lead role in this film are Siddharth, Nimisha Sajayan and Baby Sahasra Sree.
It conveys the social message on how to treat kids or the people who have been abused and how to lend a support to them. The film was eventually produced by the actor himself under his home banner, Etaki Entertainment.
Siddharth’s criticism of “animal-like” reactions to ‘Chithha’ serves as a remainder to audiences and critics alike to approach cinema with an understanding perspective. “Art is meant to challenge, provoke and sometimes disturb,” Siddharth had tweeted.
