New Delhi: A Delhi Police officer was suspended and is now facing disciplinary action after a viral video clip showed him kicking and shoving a small group of men offering namaz on a busy road in the city.
A disturbing 34-second video captured the officer, who oversees a police post in the Inderlok area of Delhi, attempting to disperse the men praying near a local mosque. Suddenly, he unleashes a burst of anger, kicking two individuals from behind and appearing to strike one on the neck.

People on social media said that action should be taken against this extremely unruly police officer. They said that kicking people sitting in namaz like this is a display of very poor mentality.
A longer video shows the same officer forcefully pushing the praying men.
According to news agency PTI, which quoted Deputy Commissioner of Police of North Delhi MK Meena, “In today’s incident, the police post in-charge featured in the video has been immediately suspended. Necessary disciplinary measures are being pursued.”
According to the NDTV, a departmental inquiry has been launched.
Later, enraged protesters blocked the road demanding accountability for the officer’s actions.

According to reports, the men were forced to pray outside due to the mosque being at full capacity. Security measures have been intensified in the vicinity to uphold law and order.
Critising the police, senior Congress leader and spokesperson Supriya Shrinate shared the viral video and wrote sircastically, “The motto of Amit Shah’s Delhi Police is peace, service, justice…working diligently.”
Delhi Congress, in atweet, said, “Delhi Congress strongly condemns such inhuman acts during worship, namaz or prayer of any religion. The barbaric action taken in Indralok is intolerable. The government should take immediate action against the guilty police personnel.”
