New Delhi: A day after over 100 leaders of Popular Front of India (PFI) were arrested for their alleged role in terror funding, the Kerala High Court took suo moto cognizance of the outfit’s call for flash hartals (strikes) in the state. On Thursday, a massive raid was conducted by the sleuths of the National Investigation (NIA) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in a crackdown on the PFI network in the country.
The Kerala High Court on Friday asked the state government to take strict action against those who violate its previous order banning strikes in the state. It added, “Destruction of public property is unacceptable.” This came amid stray incident so stone pelting and violence in some pockets of the state since Friday morning amid the hartal called by PFI.
PFI supporters also attacked the police and in Kollam, at least two policemen were injured.

Two police officers were earlier today injured in Kollam after allegedly being attacked by PFI supporters.
Thursday’s raids, according to the officers of the agencies, were the “largest-ever investigation process till date”. Sources told the media that the investigators worked on a suspicion that some people were allegedly involved in organising terror camps and are encouraging youths to indulge in terrorist activities.
Reacting to the raids, the PFI, in a statement, said, “We strongly protest the fascist regime’s moves to use agencies to silence dissenting voices…(the) raids are taking place at the homes of its national, state and local leaders. The state committee office is also being raided.”
